Lester spence was asked about the best approach. Heres what he had to say. The approach the city has taken before was actually have monuments toto the put them in context. They were just put up. Before the statue was taken down there was a plaque next to it basically saying that it was that the statue was erected as part of a lost cause project voted to the confederacy and White Supremacy. That was ok. Gone, i thinkare what i would like to see is the base maintained. For the statues themselves are removed but the bases stay there in order to reflect on the one hand the fact that there was a political project dedicated to White Supremacy that had a long history that is deeply tied with the creation of the nation. End as well. Another story tonight, a person at a gas station killed when a hijack metro bus plowed to the parking lot. And we are getting answers on how that hijacking was even able to happen. We begin with just what happened inside bus number 6102. It was 10 30 a. M. This morning. Station andis gas ended up right over here. Wasn who was working here struck and killed. The bus ended its run here is a man boarded, covered over the driveway, and attacked. I just saw a with this driver. Andhe saw the suspect closed the door. Showed up in the driver seat and headed east. And struck aened pedestrian in this gas station before coming to a halt. The pedestrian that was struck has been pronounced. Say officers and the suspect got into some kind of struggle but the man was taken into custody. He seems like hes drunk or hes high i think hes very crazy. Twice a week, he worked here, cleaning up. Is unfortunate. They knew the man it worked here and he was married. He lived in this neighborhood. T
