The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the start of efforts to demine Cambodia, which began in earnest in 1992. The events planned are set to take place over November 21-22, with Prime Minister Hun Sen expected to be in attendance.
Ly Thuch, first vice-president of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistant Authority (CMAA ), visited a site where demining activity is underway on October 5 that was sponsored by the Samdech Techo Project for Mine Action.
Almost $6 million will be used on mine clearing across six provinces in the first phase of the Samdech Techo Project for Mine Action (STP-MA), according to the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA).
