EAST FALMOUTH Nobody was injured in a house fire on Waquoit Highway late Sunday afternoon that left the occupants displaced.
The Falmouth Fire Department received a call at 3:14 p.m. Sunday for a reported structure fire at 598 Waquoit Highway, Deputy fire Chief Chad Absten said.
The fire originated in the basement, and fire and heavy smoke was found extending to the first and second floor of the two-story house, Absten said.
All occupants were out of the house when the fire department arrived on scene.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes, Absten said. They then searched the building to confirm all occupants were out.
