Six gamblers arrested

Rawalpindi:In a crackdown on the anti-social elements, police have arrested six gamblers besides recovering bet money Rs41,000 and other items from their possession, a police spokesman said here on Monday.
Chontra Police got information that some people were gambling on the cock fight in the area. During the course of action, police arrested the gamblers identified as Waqar Hussain, Aftab Ahmed and Muhammad Ali. Police recovered Rs35,000 from their possession.

The most popular hill station of the country is teeming with tourists ahead of New Year’s Eve and there is no water in the taps.
The situation sent the administration scrambling to the town hall, seeking immediate resolution of water shortage.
The top administrative officer of the otherwise quaint town is an assistant commissioner. Murree Assistant Commissioner (AC) Waqar Hussain held a meeting of city’s traders and public representatives to review the water crises as revellers continue to pour in with an aim to give a fitting goodbye to the worst year in their memory.

KARACHI: Southern Punjab won the Pakistan One-day Cup for 2nd XI after emerging as leaders on the points table here on Thursday.
Southern Punjab in their last outing defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by eight wickets to finish with eight points.
Sindh also ended with eight points but Southern Punjab clinched the title on the basis of better net run-rate.
The event was conducted under a single league system among the six outfits.
Here at NBP Sports Complex, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa posted 248 all out in 46.3 overs. Opener Mohammad Mohsin Khan top-scored with 65 off 77 balls, hammering seven fours and one six. Sahibzada Farhan contributed 45 off 64 balls, smacking six fours. Ahsan Baig took three wickets, while Mukhtar Ahmed and Zohaib Afridi claimed two wickets apiece.

KARACHI: Sindh, Northern and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday registered victories in the third round of the Pakistan Cup One-Day Tournament 2020-21 for Second XI here at different venues.
At KCCA Stadium, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded a 126-run win over Balochistan. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa scored 262 for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 50 overs.
Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 53 off 88 balls (four fours, one six). Mehran Ibrahim contributed 50 off 59 balls (four fours). Ashfaq Ahmed scored 49 runs. Zainullah took three wickets for 55.
In reply, Balochistan were rolled over for 136 runs in 34.5 overs. Abdul Rehman Muzammil top-scored with 53 off 81 balls (three fours, one six). No other batsman offered any sustained resistance against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa bowling attack. Maaz Sadaqat took three wickets for 21, while Asad Afridi took two for eight in 2.5 overs.

KARACHI: Sindh defeated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 69 runs in their second round fixture of the Pakistan Cup One-day Tournament 2020-21 for 2nd XI sides here at the KCCA Stadium on Friday.
After being invited to bat, Sindh were folded for 281 in 49.2 overs. Ammad Alam top-scored with 68-ball 73, smashing seven fours and four sixes. Jahanzaib Sultan chipped in with a 48-ball 43, hitting six fours and one six. Both openers shared 102 runs for the first wicket association.
Other notable contribution came from Saim Ayub who scored 55 off 61 balls. His innings included two fours and as many sixes. Ramiz Aziz, batting at No5, made 52-ball 42, which included two boundaries.
