Wapda s Indus Bond listed on London Stock Exchange - Newspaper

Creative Commons/ File LAHORE: The Water & Power Development Authority (Wapda) on Monday listed the Indus Bond a green Eurobond (GEB) on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) to raise $500 million to finance mega hydropower projects. Talking to Dawn, Wapda Chairman retired Lt General Muzammil Hussain said: “Since we need about $2.2 billion ($1.5bn in first two years and the rest subsequently), we have initially a listed $500 million Eurobond. The number of bonds will be gradually increased depending upon the financial needs for the projects.”

KARACHI: In the recently launched docudrama Paani Kay Pankh, produced by Tooba Jamil Baig, written by novelist and screenwriter Umera Ahmed, and filmed by ad film-maker Farooq Mannan, a young boy makes a paper ship and sails it in a river in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The boy’s grandfather, bathing in the same water miles away, waits for him to come home. The land, the narration explains, and we see, is either lush with life or rocky and arid; either way, there’s a lot of potential. The entire landscape of this part of KP and Pakistan itself will change once Mohmand dam, which has been in hiatus for years, becomes a reality, we’re told time and again.

GB CM briefed about hydel projects - Newspaper

LAHORE: Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Muhammad Khalid Khursheed says that projects including Diamer Basha Dam would go a long way in transforming the socio-economic landscape of the country in general and Gilgit-Baltistan in particular. He said this here on Monday while holding a meeting with Wapda Chairman retired Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain and other officials. The authorities briefed him about water and hydropower projects being implemented by Wapda in GB during the meeting. These projects include Diamer Basha Dam, Harpo, Tangir, Thak, Shayok Dam, Basho, Attabad Lake, Skardu Dam, Tungus and Yulbo hydropower schemes. The matters relating to the resettlement action plan, land acquisition and schemes under Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) for Diamer Basha project were also discussed during the meeting. The progress on other projects also came under discussion.
