Taipei, June 13 (CNA) Almost all the 30 toy pens selected for inspection this year by the government were found to meet product quality and labeling requirements, which is a significant improvement on last year when only one of the 17 randomly sampled toy pens passed both inspections, the inspectors said Tuesday.
Taipei, March 17 (CNA) Random spot-checks have uncovered the carcinogen formaldehyde in 20 percent of eating utensils made from plant fibers, including tableware sold by FamilyMart and Taiwan's largest coffee chain Lousia, the Executive Yuan's Consumer Protection Committee announced Friday.
An investigation of 29 university campus restaurants found 21 to be in contravention of food safety regulations, with breaches ranging from bacterial contamination to serving expired food, the Executive Yuan’s Consumer Protection Committee said.
The probe, which took place in April and last month, rated restaurants on campuses in Taipei, New Taipei City, Taoyuan, Hsinchu City, Taichung, Changhua City and Yilan City, on 24 points of compliance, committee official Wang Chih-hung (王志宏) told a news conference in Taipei on Wednesday.
