Student food drive has deeper impact after winter storm

BRENHAM, TX â The winter storm had a huge impact on food insecurity across Texas. The storm stripped houses of electricity and left grocery stores with bare shelves. But Brenham ISD students set their community up for success by spreading kindness and nonperishable food before the storm hit.
At Alton Elementary, Ms. Roznovsky and Ms. Shelnutt s third grade classes were inspired by the core value of kindness to immerse themselves in a food donation drive for their community with the Bread Partners of Washington County.
This is the teachers third year coordinating an initiative like this with their classes.

Share Updated: 9:07 PM EST Feb 21, 2021 Terry Stackhouse The Auburn School Department announced Sunday three staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. One of the infected staff members works at Edward Little High School and two others work at Walton Elementary School. The district says any close contacts will be notified. All district schools are now operating in a hybrid model. In August, the Auburn School Committee considered allowing families to choose all in-person learning for their children but that option was scrapped after teachers protested, citing safety concerns. The Auburn Education Association offered no comment on the new cases.
