There s something for everyone this weekend at Brevard theaters

This weekend, theater fans will be super busy as they go “Up” at Surfside, catch “Big Fish” in Titusville, check out an angry “Inch” at the Henegar and boogie to ABBA with  Mamma Mia in Cocoa Village. Four of the five theaters in Brevard are opening new productions on Friday, April 23, making for a collection of theatrical riches. Let’s start at the north and work our way south. Titusville Playhouse unveils its small-cast version of “Big Fish” Friday, April 23. Here, the cast does double or triple, or more duty in multiple roles. “I switched everything this year to small cast versions because of COVID,” said executive artistic director Steven Heron. “With the small-cast version, the story has been condensed and shines.”

Damaged business property was reported. According to the Police Department, an upset customer who was escorted from the building struck a door and broke it. An assault was reported at the 2400 block of W. 16 th St. on Feb. 24. Burglary of a residence was reported at the 1400 block of Galveston St. on Feb. 24. A crash resulting in vehicle damage was reported at the 1200 block of N. Columbia St. on Feb. 24. A theft was reported at the 1200 block of W. 21 st St. on Feb. 24.

Denise C Remy, obituary

Denise Claire Remy. Denise Claire Remy, 69, an accomplished artist and wonderful wife, mother and sister, died of cancer February 28 in the Hospice unit at Waldo County General Hospital. She was born in Stamford, Connecticut, the fourth of seven children of Arthur and Marie Remy, and moved to Maine shortly after graduating from Stamford High School. With her boyfriend Richard Norton and a group of fellow Connecticut escapees, they created a small but influential community on the flank of Patterson Hill, in Thorndike, making the Red House their home. The sunsets and distant views of Katahdin on clear days were attractions, as was the freedom of living close to the land according to ideals they developed as they grew.
