SAFFORD Special Forces Association, Chapter XXII, will conduct a special Memorial Day weekend service for Sgt. Walter Bruce Foote.
Foote, who graduated from Safford High School in 1966, was a Green Beret in Vietnam when he was killed in action March 6, 1970. For his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star among others.
The special service for Foote will take place Saturday, May 29, at 10 a.m., at Safford’s Memorial Gardens.

A man was killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a hookah and smoking lounge in Waldorf, Maryland, Friday night, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
