UCF continues to ride a wave of momentum on the recruiting trail after the Knights secured a verbal commitment from 4-star tight end Kylan Fox on Tuesday. Fox announced his decision on Instagram, donning a camo hat with red, white and blue UCF lettering from a table that featured hats from Ole Miss, FSU and Georgia Tech. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound Fox becomes the fourth player to pledge to UCF .
Michigan landed another OL recruit last Friday in picking up C prospect Jake Guarnera from Ponte Vedra, FL. Michigan had been looking to add a pure-C prospect to their vaunted OL class and zeroed in on Guarnera. The player was very interested in joining the class and put his name down quickly, bumping the Wolverines up to five OL in the 2024 recruiting class. I guess we'll just have to get used to the first guy on the board saying yes. Andrew Sprague's rankings may not say this, but the people who brought you Zak Zinter and Andrew Stueber are all saying Michigan had one name circled above the rest in tackle prospects, and the guy that name belongs to said he's enrolling it at Michigan. Why not 〽️ichigan? pic.twitter.com/PzpDQq2cl3 Andrew Sprague (@andrewsprague15) April 7, 2023 This is big. Okay, yes, literally. But if you asked me what I want to see in a tackle prospect's hello post it's a 6'8" multi-sport athlete who's flying up the rankings and has every kind of evil pawing at him. This one was odd, however, as several major programs that really really seemed to want him didn't bother to, you know, offer Sprague a scholarship. Alabama was trying to lure him into their lair. USC waited until March. Notre Dame, whose former OL coach Harry Hiestand was in constant contact, held out until Hi
There it is! As promised, Michigan has a five-star quarterback committed for 2024. We can talk about the long road to get here, and all of those who didn't make it. Notre Dame-bound local 5-star CJ Carr, who maybe wasn't Grandpa Lloyd's program's top prospect. Former quarterback coach Matt Weiss, who had to be coached by Jadyn's father on the finer points of recruiting. Davis's first high school. Even the normally cordial relationship between Michigan recruiting sites broke down over this one. This recruitment survived pursuit since middle school by Ryan Day, a childhood Clemson fandom, four years of pursuit by Georgia (where he lived for most of his life), a dumped-by-Dylan Raiola Ohio State coming back in full throttle, two NFL flirtations by Harbaugh, a snowstorm, and the athletic department's deep commitment to confounding itself on NIL. The one thing that never really wavered in all of that was Jadyn Davis, the five-star quarterback looking for a
I really had hopes of getting UFR out this week, but the fallout from last weekend's visitpalooza will continue until morale improves. Ben Roebuck, one of Michigan's top offensive line prospects, and one of the top prospects in Ohio, announced on Instagram yesterday that he's committed to Michigan. He did this moments after I posted the Hello from Tuesday's commitment, Cincinnati 4.5 RB Jordan Marshall. Marshall announced right after I posted on Monday's commitment, 2023 4 VA safety prospect Brandyn Hillman, another Michigan-Ohio State battle. Was Roebuck actually a Michigan-Ohio State battle? OSU was his expected destination for the first half of the cycle, but never officially offered. They also traditionally withhold offers for born Buckeyes in-state because the act of giving one often leads to a commitment shortly thereafter. Clearly they viewed Roebuck differently than Marshall, but their reporters were really surprised an offer didn't come after Ro
