CBS Sports Axisa: Reds among five potential landing spots for Pujols

View Comments With Albert Pujols available after the Los Angeles Angels designated him for assignment on Thursday, CBS Sports Mike Axisa writes that the Cincinnati Reds are among five Major League Baseball teams that could take a chance on the future National Baseball Hall of Fame first baseman. The Reds lost first baseman Joey Votto to a broken thumb Wednesday and he is expected to miss several weeks. Cincinnati could go with Alex Blandino, Kyle Farmer, or Mike Moustakas at first base, though none are ideal solutions (moving Moustakas to first would require moving Jonathan India or Nick Senzel to third, and open a hole elsewhere). Asking Pujols to play first base on an everyday basis at this point in his career isn t the best idea, but the Reds are an option.

A Storybook Start for the Reds Young Stars - Cincinnati Magazine

Cincinnati Magazine April 13, 2021 Let’s talk about Young Guns, shall we? It’s 1877, and a group of young gunmen, led by Billy the Kid, become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. But when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.   OK, that was actually a 1988 movie starring Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, and the immortal Lou Diamond Phillips. But I don’t want to talk about those young guns—or, to be more accurate, my benevolent overlords here at The Magazine prefer I focus on baseball instead of late-1980s westerns for some reason. Let’s discuss the Cincinnati Reds instead, who have their own group of young guns ready to storm the National League.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa knows what s at stake in Chicago

USA TODAY PHOENIX – Tony La Russa is sitting outside a golf resort, wearing a New England Patriots cap and talking about the sensation searing through his body that he hasn’t felt since, well, six pennants, three World Series championships and 5,097 games ago. It’s not so much nervousness as it is anxiousness. He’s confident, but jumpy. He’s relaxed, but hardly peaceful. He goes to bed with a notepad and pen on his nightstand. He wakes up in the middle night to jot down notes. He drinks coffee in the morning, his mind racing, desperately searching for anything he might be missing.
