Meals on Wheels has offered a food delivery service to the housebound and ill in Temuka since 1970. There was just one person requiring Meals on Wheels in Temuka now so the DHB had offered to deliver to them, she said. “Over the last few years we’ve been down to about eight meals a day.” Looking back the former volunteer said she enjoyed talking to recipients. “I used to love doing it and seeing the smile on their face and having a chat.” She doubts Meals and Wheels will be back in Temuka in the future.
