Jay Ford has been around long enough to put last weekend’s near miss in the Doncaster behind him as he tries to go one better in a Group 1 at Randwick on Saturday.
Ford just got pipped on the line in the $3 million race on Icebath when Cascadian grabbed them late and he pushed away to pain pretty quickly knowing he had another big job to do seven days later.
An ex-Godolphin galloper turned Singapore star is returning to Australia to join the Chris Waller yard.
Kranji Mile winner Aramaayo (known as Aramayo in Australia) will arrive at Waller’s Rosehill base in the New Year.
With Singapore racing going through a difficult period, some of the jurisdiction’s top owners and trainers are looking elsewhere to continue to compete in top level races.
It’s expected Freedman, as well as Aramaayo, won’t be the last to abandon Singapore in the coming months.
Aramaayo won the Group 1 Kranji Mile back in August while he was conditioned by Australian trainer Shane Baertschiger and later won the Group 1 Raffles Cup.
