A measure to create a new hospital district in the Lower Yakima Valley is passing with 65% support, though turnout numbers will determine whether it is successful.
Proposition No. 1 was passing by 65% with 981 votes for, and 532 against, according to the early totals. More ballots will be counted in the days ahead.
Along with a vote to establish the proposed Lower Valley Hospital District, residents of the Lower Valley will elect five commissioners to oversee district operations.
