CAMBRIDGE, Md. – In Dorchester County, the organization Camp Harriet is gearing up for their first annual Walk With Harriet on Christmas Eve. They say the walk is a chance to commemorate the bravery of the abolitionist.
Event organizer Linda Harris says the 15-mile long journey begins at the Faith Community United Methodist Church in East New Market and ends at the Tubman Museum on Race Street. Harris says on Christmas Eve 1854 Tubman returned to the Eastern Shore to rescue her siblings from slavery so Harris wants people to think about her courage on the holiday.
She adds this walk is a good way to wrap up 2020.
