Youngsters at the region’s secondary schools will return to the classroom on a part-time basis to begin with, although they are expected to be full-time after the Easter break. World Book Day is roaring success at Alford school

Stories came to life for World Book Day. Whether joining in from home or in class at Alford Primary School, children took part in lots of fun activities. Some activities were inspired by the the story of The Tiger Who Came to Tea . The result was some super paintings and even some amazing tiger cupcakes! Children even enjoyed some tiger cupcakes. Year 4 focused their day on the magical story of The BFG . They created dream catchers, dream jars and even made Frobscottle - the BFG s favourite drink! Motorists urged to drive with care on A96 north of Dyce

Sign Up Police have advised motorists to use caution on A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road to the north of Dyce due to adverse weather conditions. Police warned of the tricky conditions on the route around 1.30am this morning and urged motorists seeking to pass to use alternative routes. A force spokeswoman said this morning that the route is “passable with care”, however, motorists are urged to drive to the road conditions. Due to adverse road conditions on the A96 north of Dyce, drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Despite this, some schools across the north and north-east have been closed due to conditions. Currently, schools are only open to the children of key workers and vulnerable children. Adverse weather on roads, making travel difficult, along with building issues have forced some head teachers to ask pupils or staff not to travel.
