CBC/Radio-Canada has learned the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District never requested a new school for Portugal Cove-St. Philip's, where Premier Andrew Furey lives.
Residents of Portugal Cove-St. Philip's say the community has been missing one important service: a high school they can send their children to instead of busing them to nearby St. John's.
There have already been plenty of disruptions in the school system because of COVID-19, writes high school student Jake Thompson. In a guest column for CBC Opinion, he says the best way to prevent any more is to require students and teachers to get immunized.
