“Why on earth would I want you there?” Peter Brosnahan later learned her attitude towards him and behaviour was a feature of her mental health, but as a child he learnt to be self-sufficient, according to a recent court judgment. He did well, although at high school and later when he studied law, he joined his parents working as a cleaner at night and weekends when the family needed money after his mother impulsively bought a house in Easdale St, close to The Terrace in central Wellington.
