Taking an unauthorised pictures of someone in public is now a punishable crime in the UAE, according to the amended Cybercrime Law.

10-year jail for Dubai residents found guilty of forging tenancy contracts

Dubai: Dubai residents are being warned against drawing up fake attested tenancy contracts to obtain visas for family members. Dubai Courts recently looked into many cases of people used forged tenancy contracts and water and electricity bills to present them to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affair (GDRFA) in Dubai to renew their residency or to get visas for family members. An attested lease agreement is required for all tenants in the UAE to obtain visas for family members. In a recent case at the Dubai Court of First Instance, a 35-year-old Syrian man was charged with forging a tenancy contract from Shrarjah as well as the water and electricity bill to get a visa issued for his son.

Dubai: The amendment to the UAE’s Commercial Transaction Law has introduced several penalties to narrow the scope of writing bad cheques by individuals and corporates. “The changes will cut time and effort on the part of the beneficiary of a cheque as the decree makes bounced cheques an executive document to be executed directly by an appropriate judge in court. The changes will help overcome challenges with commercial dealings and with securing payments,” said Abdelaziz.
