Will the new oil and gas boom and promised investment create the wealth of middle-income, middle-skill jobs that, in the past, gave so many Alberta residents a good paycheque? Or does this province need something else to prime the economic pump?
Minister of Jobs, Economy and Northern Development Brian Jean issued the following statement on the public release of the Minimum Wage Expert Panel report:
The panel was appointed by then-labour minister Jason Copping in 2019 to look at whether the move a $15 minimum wage in 2018 hurt the labour market, and determine whether food and liquor servers would earn more from tips if they were paid a lower hourly rate.
