CALGARY - Matt Dunstone s curling team continued to parlay the generosity of a Saskatchewan small town into its strong start at the Canadian men s championship.
Dunstone s foursome downed Quebec 9-6 on Tuesday for a third straight win. Saskatchewan was 4-1 in Pool B at the Tim Hortons Brier.
The COVID-19 pandemic decimating the competitive curling season and closing off ice time in certain regions of the country meant none of the 18 participating teams were in peak form upon arrival in Calgary.

Matt Dunstone’s rink, representing the Wadena Curling Club, will likely find themselves in the championship pool once pool play wraps up on Thursday. He will go into a Wednesday morning game against the wildcard team skipped by Kevin Koe needing a win to not only keep hopes of first place in the pool alive, but to hand Koe and his Calgary team their first defeat as well.
On Tuesday, Dunstone played once defeating Quebec’s Mike Fournier by a score of 9-6. A four in the fourth gave Saskatchewan control of the game. Team Saskatchewan is now 4-1.

Team Saskatchewan has made their way to Calgary and have entered the Curling Canada bubble as the 2021 Brier is just days away.
Team Dunstone arrived on Tuesday in the bubble and are currently quarantining. Round one of tests have also come back, and fortunately they are negative.
Prior to making their way to the bubble, Team Dunstone had to do a 14-day quarantine, and that stretch may have given the group and edge heading into the Brier. Thanks to some help from Dustin Mikush and Scott Comfort in Wadena, Team Dunstone was able to practice while waiting out their quarantine.
