A land-use bylaw change passed Monday at the Grande Prairie City Council meeting removes the more stringent requirements of being labelled “discretionary use,” permitted in certain areas of the city.
“Council supports getting people back to work, as well as creating jobs. If organizations are able to invest, develop and expand within our region it is of great value,” Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton said. “So, anything that safely allows businesses to get back to work, council would like to support.”

Grande Prairie City Council expressed their disappointment and frustration with the delayed and generic response given to them by Alberta Health Services.
Mayor Jackie Clayton explained council had wanted information on COVID hospitalization rates at the QE2, weekly updates and trends, but only received a generic letter from the provincial health services body.
