LA's New Rooftop Stunner Opens Wednesday in Citizen Public Market

Stan Lee There’s a new rooftop bar by some familiar LA names opening in Culver City’s Citizen Public Market this week. Bar Bohémien opens Wednesday right above the market’s hotspots Jolly Oyster, Mexicology, and Nancy Silverton’s Pizzette. The adaptive reuse project opened in November, and Bar Bohémien’s space leaned into reinventing the historic 1929 space. The indoor sports an open, vaulted high-ceiling retro vibe with 1920s brickwork, arched window, and leather bar seats. Speaking of windows, they’re everywhere. In early evening hours, Bar Bohémien willcapture LA’s sunset light, as will the rooftop patio that overlooks Culver Boulevard. It’s a good size, clocking in at 2,400 square feet, though the indoor bar will have to remain closed under LA County’s coronavirus guidelines. For now, outdoor capacity is limited to 25 percent, with a 10 p.m. curfew. When these restrictions are lifted, Bar Bohémien will keep late-night hours.

A new wine bar and restaurant, a second A.O.C., and garlic noodles to go

Wife and the Somm The husband-and-wife team behind catering operation Home Somm have opened a Glassell Park wine bar and restaurant christened Wife and the Somm. Chris Lucchese and Christy Lindgren Lucchese see Wife as the next evolution of their wine-forward Home Somm and offer wine for retail sale and by the glass, in addition to a monthly or quarterly wine club. Their wines are sourced from around the world and often showcase small and family run wineries with low intervention. The food will be seasonal and is meant to pair with the wines. Look for offerings such as handmade pastas, charcuterie boards, crostini featuring local produce, and Italian meatballs. Open Wednesday to Sunday with patio and limited indoor seating, serving dinner and light bites.

Extra-large Austin pizza joint from popular biscuit shop on the rise

Extra-large Austin pizza restaurant from owner of popular biscuit shop on the rise Extra-large Austin pizza joint from popular biscuit shop on the rise Photo by Chelsea Francis Photo by Chelsea Francis If you ever find yourself struggling to decide between New York-, Neapolitan-, or square-style pizza, then we have the restaurant for you. Love Supreme Pizza Bar, a new concept specializing in, well, pizza, is rising on Manor Road this spring.  The concept is slated for an April opening, and will take over 2805 Manor Rd., the space formerly occupied by 8 Track, which quietly closed in September.  East Austin s newest pizza joint specializes in 13-inch round pies that combine the crispy bottom of New York-Style pizza with the well-developed cornicione and char of Neapolitan, says a release. For those who prefer to not cut corners, square pizzas, traditionally found in Sicilian pies and Detroit-style pizza, will also be on the menu.

Where to Dine Outdoors in Los Angeles Right Now

Where to Dine Outdoors in Los Angeles Right Now Thrillist 3/19/2021 © Photo Courtesy of Eataly It might not feel like it, but we have made meaningful progress in this pandemic. Thanks to a vast reduction in COVID numbers and expanded availability and distribution of vaccines, the city of Los Angeles which just a few months ago represented the epicenter of a devastating COVID surge has been able to gradually reopen (with accommodations, of course), including the permittance of limited capacity outdoor dining at restaurants. And with an abundance of warm sunny days regardless of the season, many of LA’s restaurants were already prepared with patios and rooftops to welcome diners, while those that weren’t quickly revamped their sidewalks and parking lots to meet the new regulations. According to the latest restrictions, outdoor seating is limited to 50% capacity and tables must be spaced at least eight feet apart, but diners from up to three different households can now b
