USATF Board elects new officers, welcomes new board members

Norine Richardson was elected as the Youth Representative.   Athletes increased their representation on the board to seven athletes and an alternate. Athletes returning to the board include two-time Olympian Wallace Spearmon, 2013 World Athletics 100mH silver medalist Ryan Wilson, NACAC U23 long jump silver medalist Kendall Spencer and Rio Olympic gold medalist Michelle Carter.  Joining them in service on the board is Nicole Leach, a former 400m hurdler and 2014 USATF Indoor Champion in the mile and 3,000m, Will Leer as the AAC Alternate.  In line with recent changes to USATF’s governance , Amy Begley, 2008 Beijing Olympian, and Allen Johnson, four-time Olympian and gold medalist in the 110m hurdles, join the board as 10 year + athlete representatives.

Despite Covid restictions and bad weather, volunteers for St Teresa s Hospice, in Darlington, collected more than 1,400 trees following the festive season. It was the tenth time the hospice has carried out a tree collection service and it managed to pick up almost as many trees as last year, despite fewer vans and volunteers. Communications manager John Paul Stabler said: “We are so grateful for the efforts of volunteers who worked tirelessly in bad weather, which caused some serious delays – even the padlock at the warehouse was frozen solid which meant we couldn’t get in to the vans on

The so-called Electric Police Car project is based around a battery-powered, autonomous, multi-purpose, modular vehicle platform that would be designed, developed and manufactured in Australia and employed by local police, ambulance, fire and rescue organisations.
