March 15, 2021
Waco O’Guin, an American comedian, animator and former VSU student, has signed a deal with Netflix.
O’Guin released a new season of his animated series “Paradise PD” on the platform on March 12.
Growing up in Lakeland, Georgia, O’Guin always had an admiration for drawing animated characters, even winning a national award as a kid for his drawing of Homer Simpson.
The first season of his show, “Paradise PD,” premiered on Netflix in August 2018. The platform renewed the show for a second season which then premiered in October 2020.
After a sketch comedy show, an animated series on Comedy Central and an animated series on Netflix, former Athens residents Waco OâGuin and Roger Black will take their comedic talent to the stars with their newest Netflix animated comedy, âFarzar.â
âFarzarâ will center on Prince Fichael and his crew as they leave their domed human city to fight aliens seeking to kill them â or so they thought. As they venture out into the world, Fichael and his crew soon discover that their glorious adventure just might be a lie.
âItâs not just another kind of workplace comedy like weâve done in the past,â Black said. âThis one is going to be a lot bigger in scope.â
Two University of Georgia graduates living the life in sunny California are basking in the news that they will have a second animated show on the popular streaming service Netflix.
Roger Black and Waco O’Guin are the creators of the popular adult cartoon series “Paradise PD,” and now the pair have a new animated feature, “Farzar,” in prep for release in about a year.
“We’ve signed a deal where we can only work for Netflix for the next three years,” O’Guin said recently from his home in Burbank, Calif.
“Paradise PD” will begin its third season March 12 with 12 episodes that follow each other soap-opera style “so people can binge it,” he said.
