A 35-year-old Waubun man reportedly shot himself in the hand after dry-firing the weapon while preparing to clean the gun. The man was transported to a nearby medical clinic in a personal vehicle.
On Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 4:26 a.m., on the 25000 block of Brandy Lake Road, Detroit Lakes, a house fire was reported by a neighbor. The fire was extinguished after three hours. The residents were not at home at the time of the fire. The incident is under investigation. Also, on Wednesday, Nov. 3, on the 500 block of east Main Avenue, Frazee, a vehicle fire was reported. The fire was extinguished. Officials believe the fire originated with the power amp for the vehicle's sound system.
On Friday, Oct. 15 at 10:12 p.m., on the 100 block of east Main Street, Detroit Lakes, a 15-year-old was detained in connection to a report of shots fired involving a group of juveniles. One minor injury was reported and a law enforcement official stressed that the injury was "very minor." The emergency call wasn't placed until hours after the incident occurred. The 15-year-old was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Moorhead. The case remains under investigation.
