The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a total of 1,508,005 cases of the coronavirus statewide as of this morning and 23,889 total deaths. Friday's numbers amounted to 4942 cases and 14 deaths. The Wayne County Health Department is reporting a total of 2269 cases with 191 residents isolating earlier this week. Reports from around the area indicated the Hamilton County School District #10 had eight students and two staff memebers with COVID as of Friday, 84 students quarantined and three staff members. The Marion County Health Department reported 22 new cases of the virus Thursday and Friday, with totals of 5517 positive cases and 131 deaths. Officials at Hamilton Memorial Hospital said Friday there were at a "medical surge capacity with overflow into waiting rooms." May 24, 2021 | 7:12 AM (NEWTON/OLNEY) The Illinois Wheat Association (IWA) will host its annual Southern Illinois Wheat Tour tomorrow, consisting of several field scouting stops in the morning, followed by a 4:00 afternoon plot tour at the Southern Illinois University Belleville Research Center. Those interested in taking part in the tour should contact the location they wish to join to make a reservation as soon as possible. The Illinois Wheat Association (IWA) will host its annual Southern Illinois Wheat Tour next Tuesday. The event consists of a round of field scouting starting at 9:00 that morning beginning from four different locations, followed by a 4:00 afternoon plot tour at the Southern Illinois University Belleville Research Center.
