New initiative launches in Washington for equitable vaccine distribution; seeks to raise $15 million By Becca Savransky, SeattlePI A new initiative launched this week in Washington is working to help fight for equitable vaccine distribution across the state by directing funds to community-based organizations for outreach, education and vaccine clinics. The All in WA Vaccine Equity Initiative is looking to raise $15 million. Through the initiative, officials will put funds toward community-based organizations that can do education and outreach. Money will also go toward helping to set up mobile and popup vaccine clinics to serve members of the community disproportionately impacted by the spread of the virus.

(AP) Washington state and local leaders on Monday announced a sweeping effort to raise $30 million in private and public funds to ensure the COVID-19 vaccine makes it to residents who live in under-served and minority communities that have been hard hit by the pandemic. Gov. Jay Inslee, King County Executive Dow Constantine and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan participated in the hour-long meeting to talk about the campaign, known as The All in WA Vaccine Equity Initiative, and why it is needed, KOMO-TV reported.
