The Eastern Cape department of transport has cautiously welcomed the slight decrease of 2.4% in road accident fatalities for the festive season in the province. The figures were released by transport minister Fikile Mbalula at the Grasmere Toll Plaza in Gauteng on Tuesday. Of the 1,451 people who died in the country during the 2022/2023 festive season, 205 are from the Eastern Cape.
