Criminal defense attorney Inez Weski will be released from jail after spending 41 days in custody. The lawyer was arrested while representing alleged crime boss Ridouan Taghi. She was being held on suspicion of participating in an organized crime operation that was involved in trafficking drugs internationally and money laundering.
Five suspects in the murder of Peter R. de Vries have been directly linked to Ridouan Taghi, sources close to the investigation told EenVandaag. The drug lord ordered them from prison to assault his ex-brother-in-law in May 2021, according to the program.
Ridouan Taghi has informed the Amsterdam court that he intends to conduct his own defense in the extensive Marengo criminal proceedings, a source close to the case told ANP. The extensive trial covers a myriad of violent crimes, including assassinations, attempted killings, and murder plots. Taghi ’s former attorney, Inez Weski, was arrested on April 21. She then resigned as his defense counsel, and was suspended by the Bar Association while her own case works its way through the courts.
