republicans that senator menendez mentioned back in 2006 during the george w. bush years that voted to renew the 165 voting rights bill. you see a switch within the party, including many of those republicans who are still in the senate. i can t tell you why. i really can t tell you why, rev, but from my perspective as a conservative, this is what i think should occur. i do think republicans should work with democrats to extend voting times. i do think that republicans should work with democrats to have more voting precincts available, particularly in heavily populated areas. as i told a friend a week ago, i wouldn t wait in line for 15 hours. i know someone that s been working all day wouldn t wait in line for ten hours. there has to be steps we can take in a bipartisan fashion that are not republicans, that are not democratic, but that really strengthens and sort of provides a healthy balance, if you will, to the voting process.
