struck down a key provision of the voting rights act that have a history, making states that have a history of voting discrimination get any voting changes pre cleared by the federal government, and the argument there was that these provisions are outdated and no longer in line with contemporary voting, so why do you think that is still relevant? that is still so relevant? we are coming up on the ten year anniversary of the decision, and unfortunately congress has failed to respond to that decision. but what i think today s opinion from the supreme court affirms is that the voting rights act is very much needed, that racial discrimination continues to exist in alabama, in places like new york and california, and mississippi and georgia, all over the country, and that is why we need a strong voting rights act that continues to have that preclearance provision. the last question, there are similar cases in louisiana, and texas, georgia, where plaintiffs are suing to require more of these
