tonight senior correspondent eric shawn tells us about still more people who accuse the irs of political persecution. reporter: after recounts of legal battles when former saturday night live comedian al franken was declared the winner over norm coleman in the 2008 senate race, minnesota majority started raising questions. it said franken s 312-vote win could have been helped by more than 1,000 felons voting illegally. election officials have denied that, but the group now thinks its voter fraud investigations could have landed it on an irs hit list. i did wonder if there might have been something to do with the voter fraud situation we ve been involved in, why the irs has singled us out for additional scrutiny. reporter: the group said after seven years of in problems the irs sent them a compliance letter in march demanding lots of information, like does the group support candidates or influence public policy.
