The $11,000 Open Handicap pace was the featured event on the Tuesday (June 1) program at Running Aces, and favourite SB Bodacious turned in another stellar performance to live up to all of the pre-race hype.
Starting from post 5, SB Bodacious was fastest off the car and quickly settled an early skirmish with stablemate Zanetti to take control of affairs and register a :27.1 opening panel. Rick Magee settled his five-year-old Voracious Hanover gelding for a second-quarter breather of :29.1 while his other trainee, Zanetti, tracked intently from the pocket. Solongo traveled along in third through the opening half mile, and the first to move outside was Frewil Dakota Sven, who set sail from the back of the pack to advance in the first-over position.

The featured event on the Tuesday (May 18) program at Running Aces was the $11,000 Open handicap pace, with Frewil Dakota Sven emerging victorious in 1:54.2.
The public honed Numbered Account as the 2-5 wagering favourite, as the five-year-old Roddys Bags Again gelding was making his Running Aces debut with impressive lines from Dover Downs. The heavy choice got away from the gate last in the field of six, while Solongo went to the lead from post 4 before yielding the front to stablemate Frewil Dakota Sven near the :56.3 half mile. Once on the lead, the six-year-old son of Up Front Brad appeared quite comfortable and never faced any serious pressure. He had plenty left in the tank in the stretch-drive to score by one-and-a-quarter lengths for his first-ever Open-level win.
A $7,400 Open Trot that finds Silverhill Volo aiming for his fifth straight victory and a $7,200 Filly and Mare Open Pace with Bertha Vanation eyeing the hat trick are the marquee events on Sunday’s Cal Expo card.
There will be 12 races under the Watch and Wager LLC banner on Sunday (Jan. 24) and things get underway at 4:55 p.m. The Open Trot is scheduled as the third race, while the Distaff Open will occupy the sixth-race slot on the evening.
Silverhill Volo, perfect in his four outings at this meet, looks to keep the streak going in the Open Trot while leaving from the assigned outside post in the field of nine.
