democrats will have to get in the mud with him in order to defeat him likely and so i think a lot of democrats will look to see beto o rourke and the other candidates evolve their messaging to take on the president directly. one of the things that has been critical of him, a.b., is that he has not been specific enough about policies. von hilliard caught up with him in iowa this weekend and questioned him about that and whether he has to be more specific. a lot of folks we talk to, they re looking to you to provide more policy. when can they expect that? well, continue to come to these meetings and listen to me answer the questions that are posed to me. if you have all of the answers, why show up? if you re not ready to listen and to learn then what s the use of camp calling. you said in the past that you want to give americans the health care they need. it s one of the ways to guarantee high quality health
field of candidates. so other candidates are also hitting the stump in corn country today, cory booker is there. amy klobuchar is there. we have a panel ready to dig in to today s events. von hilliard is live for us where beto o rourke is about to arrive for an event today. what s the energy been like for him? reporter: good morning. actually he was ran a 5k this morning so this is going to be his first real event, if we may. essentially, this is what we re starting to see. this is his third day on the campaign trail. you re now seeing pop-ups selling shirts, selling buttons, suddenly we re ten and a half months out from the iowa caucus still. this is the scene we re looking at in towns across eastern iowa over the last three days in what you see here, this is an event here in waterloo, beto o rourke will be campaigning for a special election coming up on this next tuesday, it s for a
priority for democrats today. i think they re open as i am to anybody as the nominee who can be the best person to make the case against donald trump. it s not so much the democrats are now worried about differences in policy and ideology. it s truly about electability in a way that it was not when barack obama ran against hillary clinton and in a way that has not been even when bill clinton became the nominee in 1992, democrats see the election as the existential election of our lifetime and whether it s bernie sanders or joe biden or beto o rourke or cory booker, it doesn t matter. as long as they can beat donald trump. we ll see how it all plays out. you see beto o rourke right there in the waterside town of waterloo, iowa. he s about to speak there and it seems as if it s a crowd of pretty sizeable crowd. it s a town with a population in the 60,000. it seems like they all came out there to see him. our thanks to julie and noel as well as von hilliard who s there in waterloo. th
