District officials say that the decision comes after consultation with the Volusia County Health Department and it s also in keeping with current CDC guidelines. From a press release issued by Cindi Lane, accredited public relations specialist (APR) for the District:  According to the CDC, “Based on the best available evidence at this time, the CDC does not currently recommend schools conduct symptom screening for all students on a routine basis.” Volusia County Health Department Administrator Patricia Boswell told VCS it’s important that families, “continue to monitor your children for symptoms of infectious illness every day through home-based symptom screening. Students who are sick should not attend school in-person.”
