Action Together thanks its volunteers with a badge of unity and hope Local charity Action Together is taking part in #MonthofCommunity in June to celebrate and thank everyone who has volunteered to strengthen Rochdale, Oldham, and Tameside throughout the pandemic. Action Together will kick off the #MonthofCommunity by taking part in the national campaign #VolunteersWeek and launching the Volunteer Celebration Fund. The local charity has coordinated a range of volunteer roles including doorstep volunteers in Rochdale, emergency response volunteers in Oldham, ‘Miles of Smiles’ drivers in Tameside and many more who have gone above and beyond to support Action Together to strengthen local communities during the pandemic.

MEO volunteers of the year to be announced Maui Economic Opportunity will announce its individual and benefactor volunteers of the year at its 35th Volunteer Celebration from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be held virtually and is open to the public. Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino, Maui County Council Chairwoman Alice Lee and other county legislators are expected to offer remarks. Maui Mediation Services Executive Director Bevanne Bowers, immediate past president of the Maui Nonprofit Directors Association, will be the keynote speaker and talk about the value of volunteers to nonprofit organizations.

Enid News & Eagle Editorial Board Dec 12, 2020 Thumbs up people running for office in our local election early in 2021. Enid voters in Wards 3, 4 and 6 will elect commissioners in the Feb. 9 election, along with a winner in the Ward 3 recall election for Commissioner Ben Ezzell, who would then term out in May. All three Enid City Commission ward races — excluding the Ward 3 regular election — will have at least three candidates on the ballot. On the Enid Public Schools Board of Education, Offices 1 and 6 are up for reelection. School board elections are slated for other public school districts in Garfield County, including Drummond, Waukomis, Autry Technology Center, Cimarron, Chisholm, Covington-Douglas, Garber, Kremlin-Hillsdale and Pioneer-Pleasant Vale.
