well, look, we have, by far, the biggest volunteer base. we ve gotten over two million contributions, more than any other candidate in the history of american politics, and we have the momentum behind our back. we couldn t be more excited to be here in iowa to meet with latino, african american, communities of color to talk about the everyday issues that families are facing, that families are facing as a result of the wall street greed, as the result of a broken immigration system and the disproportionate impact this is having in communities of color. and we re talking about the issues and the agenda that bernie sanders is advancing that s going to directly address the issues impacting communities of color, but really all americans across this country. so we re very excited not only about the agenda and the message, but the momentum that we re carrying in this campaign. if you look at communities of color nationwide and you look at the polling, i m sure you would agree that hillary
this letter that was released today. i ll put it up on the screen. the reality is that the huge turn outs that we ve had at our meetings, our strong fund raising, our volunteer base and quick rise have caused them to place the thumbs in support of hillary clinton s campaign. you see the fact evidence to bury the democratic debates. it s more or less an open secret. do you believe debbie wasserman schultz and the dnc are trying to promote the hillary clinton campaign at your expense in. i think the evidence is mounting. it s almost irrefutable. that there are people in the dnc who are trying to help secretary clinton. you don t set up the debate schedule before the first four states. many of them held on saturdays if you re not trying to help the front-runner. they share an attorney in this case. the same law firm represents the dnc that represents hillary clinton. the vendor that s being used at the dnc.
party that s ready, that s fujsing, that has an active volunteer base and is able to reach voters all across the country. keeping with the vegas fame, senator kirsten gillibrand talked about this. she was asked if she thought joe biden would get in the race. she said if i was a betting woman, i think he would. he s always aspired to it. a the republican debates have shown they are a small tent, big circus party that s not ready to move america forward. they re proposing ideas that would drag us back to ideas that really failed already. if you want to place a bet, vegas oddsmakers tell you democrats are the way to go right now. they re making market on joe biden also. they have him getting in the race which i was surprised by. if i were going to bet, i would
we will see you out there sometime pretty soon. part of a big field. well, yeah, for someone who has a strong base of support here in iowa and across the country, we ve continued to build our volunteer base. we feel very good in a big field that we have a different message as you mentioned and we can solidify that base and win some primaries particularly early ones. thank you so much rick. good luck. really appreciate if. coming up next, chuck todd will be with us. along with the atlantic s jeffrey goldberg. there s some facts about seaworld we d like you to know. we don t collect killer whales from the wild. and haven t for 35 years. with the hightest standard of animal care in the world, our whales are healthy. they re thriving. i wouldn t work here if they weren t. and government research shows they live just as long as whales in the wild. caring for these whales, we have a great responsibility to get that right. and we take it very seriously. because we love them. and we kn
incumbent? what was the campaign like? first of all, you re absolutely right, chris, that this is a democratic party city. the city is controlled by the democratic party establishment, and that s much the same in many other cities around the country, and the most major metropolitan areas, and the way our campaign was different was that we are truly a grassroots campaign. we did not take a dime from big business. we did not seek the endorsements of the democratic party establishment. we ran a truly independent socialist campaign, a pro-worker and pro-environment campaign, and we were able to raise over $ $120,000 purely through grassroots contributions and we mobilized a volunteer base of over 350 volunteers. as we speak, there are new volunteers pouring into our campaign office saying i want to continue helping the effort for $15 an hour. and i think that shows you the power of the grassroots, and really, this is where the secret to social change lies.
