corridor. by 7:00, new york city area, we are looking at the threat for snow on your christmas eve. as far as the travel conditions right now fairly quiet conditions across the nation. portland, oregon, looking good. we are looking at foggy concerns. la guardia, no weather worries now. watching out for volume delays. atlanta looking good and 40 degrees. l.a.x. now, temperature of 76 degrees. all in all looking good as far as christmas eve weather now. all right. in the next 12 hours or so, as people begin to get ready for santa s arrival, what will it look like on christmas? let s talk about that christmas day forecast because the northern tier, we are looking at snow across the great lakes. staying cold as we move into the new york city-boston area. cool conditions for dallas and atlanta. but dry weather as we move towards parts of the pacific and also the southwest looking good. and no weather worries as far as snow. what about those chances for a white christmas? places like min
that plane to go down, obviously the focus is on the tail of that aircraft, almost immediately after the crash, photographic evidence emerged that a piece of that tail came off during mid-flight and that s something that ntsb confirmed during their news conferences and when crews went to take a look at the debris field, they actually found a chunk of the airplane and ntsb officials talked about that yesterday. take a look. it just happened so fast, a split-second event. you think, is this it? am i going to die? reporter: obviously, that was not the right sound but we want to talk to you a little bit about the victims. we got an update of the 69 people who were taken to the hospital, and treated for injuries, 31 patients remain in local hospitals and nine patients in critical condition. and, of course, we know that nine people died as well. i know that you have more information on that, fred. that is incredible. that s right. we know that number is at nine right now, but

come down. what a difference in the temperatures. you don t have to be a meteorologist today to figure out where the cold front is. look at this, 59 in atlanta. 88 in jacksonville. you know something in this area is going to be giving and popping. there s also a lot of lightning associated with this. even if your sirens aren t going off, you really need to stay indoors today. lightning, of course, very, very dangerous. let s go and talk a little about the split in temperatures. zonal flow traveling west to east, storms travel within this track. everything on the northern tier very, very cool. everything on the south very, very warm. unfortunately just a sliver. not very many people getting in on the warm. we re going to stay cool across parts of the north. travel hasn t been too bad. worst delay philadelphia, 45 minutes. notice florida delays, these are volume delays. i m thinking to myself, why would that be? because the weather is so lovely and everyone wants to get there. spring
today, for the year, any way. the closest point to losing your temper today, at the airports. a lot of people having to wait a lot. we don t have a major weather system out here. we have been seeing rain, very steady throughout the day. coastal areas. the temperatures are warm. snow is melting. that is the good news. a lot of delays as a result of that. we have also got a storm system out west that is causing a lot of problems. this is a real slow mover, cut off from the main system, drifting southward. that s why we are seeing copious amounts of rainfall, higher snow into higher elevations. could see up to a foot potentially, in the los angeles county mountains. yeah, believe it or not. this is going to continue throughout the day tomorrow. be aware of this. here, a come of the delays we are talking about. weather rerelated for you. jfk, san francisco. volume delays. airports aren t good. not going to be good out west tomorrow. the east a little better. west coast does not need any
