Goal: Make stronger investment in program to address inequities in COVID-19 vaccine distribution.
Wealthy countries have snapped up most available COVID vaccines worldwide. As an example, while Israel leads the world by vaccinating over 40 percent of its population, Palestine has received little to no doses. Oceans away, Canada came under fire for securing a large percentage of vaccine supplies from the international COVAX initiative meant for poorer and less advantaged countries. Such disparities continue to play out all over the world, threatening to leave hundreds of millions of people behind in the battle against a pandemic raging across the globe.

An agreement signed on August 6 this year for the partial demarcation of maritime boundaries between Greece and Egypt was posted on the United Nation’s Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea on Thursday, by the organisation’s Office of Legal Affairs.
The deal designates an exclusive economic zone in the eastern Mediterranean, which in turn gives the two countries rights over natural resources in the region.
Greek diplomatic sources said that the importance of this action lies in the speed with which it happened and the fact that the President of the U.N. General Assembly is Volkan Bozkır, a Turkish national.

The UN General Assembly on Wednesday strongly condemned North Korea’s “systematic, widespread and gross violations” of human rights in a resolution. The North slammed it as being politicized.
In the resolution adopted by consensus, the assembly expressed concern over the “absence of due process and the rule of law, arbitrary executions and detention, torture and sexual and gender-based violence,” among other rights violations by Pyongyang.
The 193-member world body has seen the North Korea resolution passed since 2005, when it was first introduced. This year marked the seventh time the world body adopted the resolution by consensus.
