New Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) President, Dr. Gene Leon, has reconfirmed the Bank’s support for recovery and reconstruction efforts in St. Vincent and Grenadines during a courtesy call with Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Friday.
Dr. Gonsalves was joined by CDB Governor for St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology, Camilo Gonsalves and the Director General Finance & Planning, Edmond Jackson.
The discussions centred on the challenges the Eastern Caribbean nation now faces following a series of eruptions of the La Soufrière volcano in April which triggered significant economic fallout and social dislocation.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) The new president of the Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), Dr Gene Leon has reconfirmed the bank s support for recovery and reconstruction efforts in St Vincent and Grenadines.
The reassurance came during a courtesy call with Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves, who was joined by CDB Governor for St Vincent and the Grenadines and Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology, Camilo Gonsalves and the Director General Finance & Planning, Edmond Jackson.

Last Friday, May 7, the all-clear was given for residents in the Orange and Yellow Zones to return to their communities.
This followed on the lessening of activity at the volcano, and residents of the Red Zone will now be looking out for clearance for their return.
That there has been significant destruction of homes in the northeastern side of St. Vincent, is clear.
CDB Project Boosts Assistance to St. Vincent and the Grenades Volcano Monitoring Capacity

Vincentians impacted by the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano will be getting over US$135,000 in assistance for relief supplies, volcano monitoring and early warning equipment under the Volcano Ready Project funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)
Supplies including 500 mattresses, 1500 cases of bottled water and fifty (50) 800-gallon water tanks were delivered to the country on April 29, while the equipment is being procured. The equipment includes Seismic Stations (Seismometers, recorders, digitiser, power supply and case), 20 Wireless Ethernet Radios, one Remote monitoring camera, three GPS Antennas and receivers, one SO2 Spectrometer for gas measurement and a Mavic 300 drone.
