Bound Brook, N.J.: The Medicare Disadvantage plan being forced on 250,000 retired honest, hardworking NYC municipal employees is a disgrace, especially coming from a mayor who was one of us. We fought for and were granted our benefits in good faith, believing the city was acting in good faith as well.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.: Twice a year, fevered politicians, frantic news folks and ordinary citizens get their knickers in a knot over the time switch from standard time to daylight saving time and back. You’d think we were changing traffic lights to purple and puce. Stories of people losing sleep, wrecking workplaces and driving into buildings abound. In less than a week, we adjust, settle down and go about our lives as if nothing happened.
Manhattan: Jonathan Zimmerman’s commentary “The Peace Corps and White Saviorism” (March 1) is a very cynical piece. I am a returned Peace Corps volunteer (RPCV) who served in Cameroon, West Africa, in the 1990s. Zimmerman patently ignores the principal tenets of the organization.
