The Oscar statuette looks as if it is made of gold, but it is simply plated in 24-karat gold. In actuality, it’s made of solid bronze, weighing in at about 8.5 pounds. For a short time after World War II, there was a metal shortage, and Academy Award winners received plastered figures rather than gold plated ones. Seems like a rip-off to me.

Gundam Live-Action Netflix Movie Coming from Kong: Skull Island Director
Netflix has announced plans to bring a live-action
Gundam movie to its subscribers. The film, which was announced on Netflix’s NX Twitter account, comes from Legendary Pictures and will be directed and produced by
Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. You can see the announcement tweet, as well as the director’s reaction to the reveal, below.

Gundam? Legendary will produce a live-action movie based on the long-running and hugely popular anime series, beginning with 1979’s

Kong: Skull Island director and confirmed anime fanatic Jordan Vogt-Roberts will take on the director’s duties. And according to
Runaways writer Brian K. Vaughn will write the screenplay.
