two eye opening polls today in arizona and tennessee. two states that went for trump in 2016, and considered a reache in the senate. in arizona, where retiring senator jeff flake leaves an open seat, kyrsten sinema has a seven point lead over martha mcsally, though we should note the average polls has sinema up a point and a half. in a race for retiring bob corker, democrat phil bredesen is up five points over marsha blackburn, 50-45. now what red state candidates are saying right now about brett kavanaugh as his nomination blows up before our eyes is a sign, i think, of just how quickly the politics around the judge are moving in the wrong direction for the gop. we re going to talk about that, next. he is 69 years old. he has a family to worry about. he s had so much financially taken away from him already. i think he s concerned about what happens to his family, if he does go to jail after his first trial. and then i think if you are anybody, not just paul manafort, and you are hanging your future on a decision that president trump is going to make, that s probably a bad strategy because trump is so unpredictable. and certainly he was signalling in some of his rhetoric after the first trial that if manafort did hang, if he didn t make a plea deal, that he could get a pardon but trump again is so unpredictable. i think if that is your strategy to go through a second trial and hope far pardon, i think he was probably getting some pretty strong advice to think otherwise. chris: he apparently took that advice. we have to take a break here. we will see you all a little later. up next a bitter confirmation battle over supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh takes a new turn involving an
