JEE Main: VNIT Nagpur was established in 1960. In October 1962, the governing body of the college decided to name it after renowned engineer and statesman Sir M Visvesvaraya.

Union Minister of Education Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will attend the convocation ceremony of two premier institutes of the nation today. The Minister would be attending the convocation ceremony of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, VNIT, Nagpur at 11 am and National Institute of Technology, NIT Goa at 3 pm through video conferencing.
Mr Pokhriyal took his official twitter account to make the announcement for both the institutes. He wrote, “I will be attending the convocation of VNIT, Nagpur at 11 AM via online mode.”
