EDWARDSVILLE A special-use permit to turn a home into a bed-and-breakfast operation has met a few sour grapes.
The Edwardsville Administrative and Community Service committee on Thursday voted 2-1 in favor of the permit, with Alderman Jack Burns dissenting.
Erin Long and Joseph Mays, who live in Godfrey, would like to turn a home at 223 N. Kansas St., Edwardsville, into a place for short-term rentals, with guests staying between two and 90 days at a time. The homeowners would not be onsite during guests’ visits and they anticipate as many as seven people would occupy their house at any given time. Guests would also have access to the home’s two-car garage.
