School facilities implicated as ‘high risk’ during a brief re-emergence of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City in early December are back in operation after two weeks of closures.
In late November and early this month, Ho Chi Minh City confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 community transmission, which broke Vietnam s streak of 88 days without a single infection in the community.
Contact tracing on the four cases, labelled Patient 1,342, 1,347, 1,348 and 1,349, found hundreds of people at risk after contacting the infected, which in turn led to the shutdown of several schools to negate further threats of transmission.

TCG Solutions Pte, a subsidiary of Thailand s conglomerate Siam Cement Group (SCG), has announced its plan to purchase over 12 million shares, or a 94.11 percent stake, of Bien Hoa Packaging (Sovi).
The transaction is set to take place from December 16 to 31.
Given the current market price of VND81,500 (US$3.5) per Sovi share, TCG is expected to spend more than VND978 billion (US$42.23 million) on the deal.
Earlier, Sovi paved the way for the acqusition by raising its foreign ownership limit to 100 percent in July.

Housing, industrial real estate, seafood, power, and steel are the sectors expected to see growth next year as the economy recovers from the effects of Covid-19.
Demand for mid-priced apartments in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City due to a shortage will continue to drive the growth of the housing sector next year, financial services data provider FiinGroup said in a recent note.
Market leader Vinhomes, which accounts for two thirds of the sector’s profits, is likely to see revenues grow with the scheduled launch of three major projects in the two cities.
