The FIDE Trainers Commission is pleased to announce the winners of the 15th FIDE Trainer Awards 2023 and the Yuri Averbakh / Isaac Boleslavsky Award for the best book published in 2022. Ramesh R B, Abhijit Kunte and Djakhangir Agaragimov were chosen as the top trainers of the year. Melikset Khachiyan and Alice Lee won the US Senior US Girls’ Championship with a round, which meant only one champion remained to be decided in Saint Louis. Going into the Junior Championship’s final round, Arthur Guo and Abhimanyu were tied for first place. As the 2023 U.S. Championships wound down, we had some great games to cap off a great tournament. The players in the Junior and Girls’ junior sections showcased why they are great torchbearers for the next generation of American chess, and the Seniors reminded us just how strong they really are.
Melikset Khachiyan and Alice Lee secured victories at the US Seniors Championship and the US Girls Championship respectively. In the Junior Championship, five players still have a chance to win the title.
