The Save Silent Valley campaign was India’s largest environmental debate that decade a call to save the Silent Valley, one of the last undisturbed tracts of the Southern Western Ghats’ mountain rainforests, from being flooded by an imminent hydroelectric project. The Valley is home to rich endemic biodiversity and a few indigenous communities.
