reported the case from the ground in perugia, we were met with a lot of resistance from the family. we were denied interviews and things like that with the family, because they didn t like our coverage. there was a lot of perception here in the states, it felt like in the italian press it was really being trumped up as sort of a tabloid story n they were taking this innocent young american girl and putting her face out there. she was attractive. this was something that was selling papers. the more salacious the story, the better in that sense. in the uk, italian and uk tabloids really had a heyday with this story. the reality is somewhere in the middle, amanda is not the innocent her parents say she is but not the vixen the tabloid said she is. she s somewhere in the middle. what a nightmare. i remember going back, as a young girl, so many kids do this, go overseas.
